Did Jesus Die

Many churches believe in using worldly means to reach the masses. If offering financial seminars will attract people, then that is what will be used. If basketball will bring in the young people, then a “sports ministry” will be developed. Has anyone in these churches stopped to ask, “Did Jesus die for basketball?” Jesus loved mankind enough to be a sacrifice for them (Jn. 3:16; 1:29). His life and blood were given for the church (Eph. 5:25; Acts 20:28). Men gave their lives in order to propagate the message of Christ dying on the cross (Acts 7:51-60; 12:1, 2). When men cheapen this message with gimmicks, it cheapens the sacrifice of Christ. The gospel is God’s power unto salvation (Rom. 1:16; 1 Pet. 1:22-25). It is the tool used to attract those in sin (2 Thes. 2:13, 14). The use of worldly means to attract people will result in worldly-minded people being attracted. If you are in a church that uses these means, ask why they are being used. Ask if Jesus died for basketball. |
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginng with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. |
