Reverence For
The Redeemer

We live in a casual world.  Many people dress casually, speak casually, live casually.  While some of this may be fine in-and-of itself, some of it is not.  Dressing casually at work has often led to lower productivity and sloppiness in work product.  Speaking casually has produced a generation that barely knows how to speak English (text messaging and email are examples).

There are those who are casual about their religion as well.  This is true when it comes to their daily walk, worship, and attitude toward Christ.  As for the latter, no longer is the Lord, Lord.  Rather many view Him as a hippie-like friend with long hair, sandals, and a hey-dude attitude.  He is more a pal than the Prince of Peace.  They have lost the respect and awe that man ought to have for the Redeemer of their souls.

Jesus is God (Jn. 1:1).  He is not just another person.  He is superior to us and ought to be given due reverence as one in Whom “dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily” (Col. 2:9).

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginng with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.
- John 1:1-3
