Denominations In The BibleBy Steven F. Deaton |

None, is the point. The doctrine of Christ is found in the New Testament. It is divine in origin. Thus, anything not found in it is from man—a doctrine or commandment of man. Jesus said those who follow the doctrines and commandments of men worship Him in vain (Matt. 15:7-9). Where is the Methodist church in the Bible? Where is the Presbyterian church in the Bible? What about the Pentecostal, Baptist, Nazarene, or Lutheran churches? It takes the Bible and some other doctrine to make a person a Methodist, Presbyterian, Pentecostal, Baptist, Nazarene, or Lutheran. Thus, such churches are not of divine origin, but earthly—they are of men. Those who are part of them may be sincere, but their worship is vain according to the Lord. You can be a Christian by following the Bible alone—and if you follow the Bible alone, you will be only a Christian. We urge you to leave man-made churches and become a part of the church you can read about in your Bible; the church belonging to Christ (Matt. 16:18; Rom. 16:16). |
