A Graphic Example of False ReligionBy Steven F. Deaton |

The Jehovah’s Witness religion is quite different from other denominations. They deny the deity of Christ, claiming He was created, contrary to John 1:1-3. They believe when you die you go into oblivion—nothingness—contrary to Luke 16:19-31. They teach that the earth will not be destroyed, but that God will revitalize it for eternal habitation by the righteous, contrary to 2 Peter 3:10-12. They deny the existence of hell, in direct opposition to Jesus’ teaching in Matthew 10:28. Another false belief, and quite odd, is their view on blood. In Jehovah’s Witness doctrine, blood is essentially sacred and base this on Leviticus 17:10-14. Thus, they refuse blood transfusions. The passage is taken out of context. It is teaching that the idolatrous practice of eating and drinking blood is sinful. It has nothing to do with medical procedures, but fact never gets in the way of false doctrine. Some may wonder what the big deal is. Does it really matter what the JWs believe on blood? A news story recently highlighted a young Jehovah’s Witness who has a tumor growing on his face. It started small, but has increase to unimaginable size. You can see the pictures here, but be warned they are graphic. He has refused to have surgery because it would require a blood transfusion. Do you suppose there are any people who look at a young man like this, understand his religious beliefs, and are turned away from God and the Bible altogether? False religion creates infidels. How many people have turned against God because of Roman Catholicism or Calvinism? It is sad and shameful. The tumor on the young man’s face is grotesque. However, the doctrine and religion he follows are worse. They are a cancer on his soul, and the souls of many others (2 Tim. 2:16-18). Let us do what we can to bring people out of false religion. It might require “surgery” to remove the cancerous beliefs, but it will be worth it. |
