Man Visits Brothel

A news report came out the other day about a Polish man visiting a brothel and seeing his wife there. She told him she had a job somewhere else. We suspect she did not know what he was doing with his time and money either. They are now getting a divorce—wonder of wonders. The man cannot blame his wife, nor can she blame him. Each is responsible for the since they commit (Gen. 3:9-19; Eze. 18:20). They both disregarded and disrespected their marriage and the law of God that governs it (Matt. 5:32; 19:9; Rom. 7:1-4). Sadly, this is not unusual in our world. With the man, it no doubt began with lust (Matt. 5:28). He allowed it to dominate his thoughts and this eventually led to action (Mk. 7:21-23). This is why the Bible says to “flee sexual immorality” (1 Cor. 6:18). It is extremely dangerous because it is so enticing to man. Joseph fled and ran from it (Gen. 39:7-13). This is the only safe course. The woman in this sad story might have enjoyed the physical pleasure, but it also seems she was doing it for material gain. Covetousness is another subtle, yet dangerous, sin in the lives of men. Paul warned that “those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition” (1 Tim. 6:9). I think becoming a prostitute fits perfectly into this passage. It is amazing what men and women will do for the sake of pleasure or a little material gain. Whatever it is, though, is not worth their soul (Mk. 8:36, 37). Do not fall prey to the devil’s delusions. He will lie to you; telling you it won’t hurt anyone, you will be happier, more fulfilled, and free (Jn. 8:44; 2 Pet. 2:18-22). All he is really doing is devouring your soul (1 Pet. 5:8). |
