Those who believe the Bible accept the fact that the church is part of God’s eternal purpose (Eph. 3:9-11). It was not an accident or aberration from His will. The church was planned and purposed before time began, because it is integral to the plan of salvation (Gen. 3:15; Eph. 5:25). It consists of those who are redeemed by the blood of Christ and is destined for heaven (Acts 20:28; 1 Cor. 6:20; 15:24). Yet, few men respect the church. We recently received an announcement from an area church about Wednesday night family meals and an after school program for kids. Part of the pitch is “Bible study,” but the majority of it includes “a fun time,” “refreshments,” “wood-working,” “exercise,” “crafts,” “knitting,” “sports,” and “recreation.” The name for the program is “ACTS: Anchoring Children and Teens to the Savior.” No such thing is found in the book of Acts. In fact, the Bible is bereft of such gimmicks to draw people, young or old, to the Lord....Full Article
