The most popular article last week was about the man finding his wife at the brothel he was visiting. If you missed it, you can find it here: Wife At Brothel
It is a slower time of year for many folks. The holiday rush is gone and the weather is keeping them in. The Christian, however, must be diligent year round. There is no vacation from the Lord; no down time. We are servants of the Savior 24/7. The devil does not let up in his attempts to devour us (1 Pet. 5:8). Thus, we cannot be lax about resisting him in the faith (1 Pet. 5:9; Jas. 4:7).
Yes, there will be times when we will be busier than others, times when we will rest to prepare for the next task. Jesus and His disciples rested from time to time, so there is nothing wrong with this. It is our personal loyalty, diligence, faith, and service we are discussing.
Apathy can sneak up on us. It is subtle. We allow prayer to slide for a day or two, then it is three or four weeks before we realize what has happened. People who are lax in attending worship usually do not stop all at once. Rather, they miss here and there, gradually drifting away from the Lord and their duties to Him. The same can happen with our Bible study habits. We might go through a "good" time, reading daily, being edified. Then something comes up and we put it off. Before long we have failed to be nourished on the Word for a month or two; and our soul shows it.
Bottom line, stay on top of your spiritual life. As other areas may slow down, do not allow your growth in the Lord to stagnate. Be diligent daily.
